We at Vel Tye know how important the contents of your everyday carry (EDC) kit are. If anything happens, you need to have the right equipment to remain safe and take care of yourself. Here are five essentials for your EDC kit:
- First Aid Kit
One of the most important items you can carry on an everyday basis is a first aid kit. If you or your partner are ever injured, you need the ability to patch the injury. Never forget the importance of your first aid kit. - Multi-tool
With a multi-tool you’re able to do a variety of things. You can have scissors, pliers, a knife, and a screwdriver all in one easy-to-carry device. It takes up less space in your kit than having individual items. Pro-tip: the more you’re willing to pay for a multi-tool, the more instruments you’ll get. - Flashlight
You know it’s going to get dark at night, so why wouldn’t you always be prepared? You never want to be stranded in the dark without a light source. Don’t depend on your phone’s flashlight; your phone battery could be dead when you need it most. And always make sure the batteries in your flashlight are full of juice. - Water Bottle
Make sure your water bottle is made of durable material that won’t leak. You also want a bottle that fits comfortably in your hand and pack. If it fits in your car cup holder, you can also use it throughout your day. - Knife
If you don’t have a knife on your multi-tool, you should have one in your kit. A knife can help with food prep, cut through a variety of materials, and potentially get you out of a difficult situation.
Extra pro tip: carrying paracord with you (or even wearing a paracord bracelet) is always a good idea. You’ll never know when you need to put its surprising strength to use in the field.
