When you’re faced with the unknown each day, you want to be sure you’re wearing protective gear that works. Your safety matters and you shouldn’t delay when it’s time to get new tactical protection gear, but how do you know when that time comes? There are certain signs you should be on the lookout for to signal when it’s time to invest in new tactical gear.

Holes and tears

If there are holes in your tactical gear, it’s time to upgrade to something new. You don’t want to compromise your safety by using materials that are worn away and torn. You could be jeopardizing your health if you end up in a dangerous situation wearing compromised gear. Instead of taking your chances with faulty material, go ahead and retire your old tactical protective gear for new, quality gear you know will protect your from the various situations you face.

If your tactical gear no longer fits the way it used to, it could be time to upgrade your gear. If your gear has become too snug or too loose, it’s best to get new, properly fitted gear. When you’re on the job, you need both comfort and mobility. You don’t want gear that’s too tight, hindering the way you move, but you also don’t want loose gear shifting out of place causing gaps in protection when you need it most.

Expiration date

Tactical gear comes with an expiration date and when that date comes you should invest in new gear. Expiration dates on tactical gear should be taken seriously. Over time, the materials in your tactical gear break down and become less effective. Normal wear and tear on gear also takes a toll, rendering it ineffective as the years pass. If the expiration date of your protection gear has come and gone, get new gear.

Of course, taking proper care of your tactical gear will help to extend its life and maintain its effectiveness as long as possible.
